The exhibition catalogue, 'Ireland: Crossroads of Art and Design, 1690-1840', is also available.

Published to coincide with the landmark exhibition, 'Ireland: Crossroads of Art and Design, 1690-1840', which opened on St Patrick's Day at the Art Institute of Chicago. The journal reflects the exhibition's internationalist approach with articles specially selected to provide context for objects included in the exhibition. As well as its special thematic focus, this volume further departs from tradition by inviting the exhibition’s curators, Christopher Monkhouse and Leslie Fitzpatrick, to select and describe a favourite object from the display.

Tom Dunne, 'The Irish harp: political symbolism and romantic revival, 1534-1854'

William Laffan and Brendan Rooney, ' "I have treated you as an artist": a letter from the Franco-English artist Phillipe de Loutherbourg to Jonathan Fisher'

Angela Alexander, 'The post-Union cabinetmaking trade in Ireland, 1800-40: a time of transition'

Christopher Monkhouse, Curator's Choice, 'A Chinoiserie dish ring by Charles Townsend'

Rolf Loeber and Magda Loeber, 'The visual worlds of the Edgeworth family: private sketches and literary illustrations'

Fiona Ahern, 'The design and decoration of bespoke carriages in late eighteenth-century Dublin'

Leslie Fitzpatrick, Curator's Choice, 'An eighteenth-century engagement book'

Zoë Coleman,'The representations of Ireland at long nineteenth-century expositions'
