DVD: Saving Our Heritage: The Irish Georgian Society

Irish Georgian Society

Regular price €10.00

Founded in 1958 by the Hon. Desmond Guinness and his first wife, the late Mariga, the Society was set up to campaign against the destruction of Ireland’s Georgian heritage, houses and streetscapes, and to promote what was then an underappreciated aspect of Ireland’s architectural history and its culture.
This 50 minute interview with the Hon. Desmond Guinness was filmed on location at his home Leixlip Castle and in Dublin at the Tailor’s Hall, 13 Henrietta Street, Mountjoy Square, and 20 Dominick Street and around the country at Castletown, Co. Kildare, Doneraile, Co. Cork, Damer House, Roscrea, Roundwood, Co. Laois and Riverstown, Co. Cork, all saved by the Irish Georgian Society. Today the Society continues this work with the support and generosity of its members in Ireland, England and America.
